Thai Foreign Investment Exceeds 70 billion Baht by May 2024

, Thailand's Lan Elephant Network reported that according to the Foreign Business Law of B .E 2542, a total of 317 foreign-funded enterprises were allowed to invest and do business in Thailand in the first five months of 2024 (January to May), up 16% year on year. The total investment was 71.702 billion Thai baht, up 58% year on year. 1,212 Thais were employed, down 60% year on year.

50, accounting for 16% of the total number of foreign-funded enterprises in Thailand, with an investment of 1.196 billion baht, involving engineering services, retail (clothing/medical equipment/machinery, etc.), advertising business, enterprise operation and management consulting, product manufacturing services (automobile steering wheel/drum brake assembly);
Mainland China

38, accounting for 12% of the total number of foreign-funded enterprises in Thailand, with an investment of 5.485 billion baht. The businesses involved include providing services to the group or affiliated companies (such as plant leasing), purchasing raw materials and parts for the industry, software development and sales (such as data analysis system), product manufacturing outsourcing (such as metal casting), franchise services (food and beverage sales);
Hong Kong, China

28, accounting for 9% of the total number of foreign-funded enterprises in Thailand, with an investment of 12.048 billion baht. The businesses involved include retail (injection molding machine/photosensitive film), basic software system services, design and installation of solar panel systems and related equipment, product manufacturing services (mold/lens frame/electronic product parts), and cloud services;
by region, in the first five months of this year, there were 99 foreign investors interested in investing in the Eastern Economic Corridor Special Zone, accounting for 31 per cent of the total foreign investment, an increase of 106 per cent over the same period last year, and investment reached 18.224 billion billion baht, accounting for 25 per cent of the total investment, an increase of 93 per cent over the same period last year.

, 31 were from Japan with an investment of 3.523 billion baht, 19 from mainland China with an investment of 1.803 billion baht, 11 from Hong Kong, China with an investment of 5.005 billion baht, and 38 foreign investors with an investment of 7.893 billion baht. The investment business mainly involves engineering and technical services, auto parts research and development, product manufacturing contracting and software development services.
